I had to look him up— fascinating! And this is great:
“When E.B. White first convinced ‘The New Yorker’ cartoon department to take his [Thurber’s] work seriously and they started publishing his cartoons in 1927, parents all over the country would send envelopes with their children’s art, saying ‘if you are publishing Thurber, you should publish my kid’s work. He was told because “The New Yorker” was this respectful place to answer each of the letters. Thurber wrote back ‘yes, your child can draw as well as I, it’s just that he or she hasn’t been through as much.’”
Love this. So New York!
Thank you! Although since there was not a lot of snow this year, not a lot of slush.....
😀
I love how your drawings always capture the essence, nothing more, nothing less. Simple and elegant.
Thank you, so much Harrison. I always think Thurber when I draw.

Isn't he great? And THurber has a great point, makes it crystal clear!
You’re reminding this Chicago lad how incredibly wet slush can be.
(Full disclosure, I’m working on one with a couple of chatty robots running a hot dog stand, no sno.)
I love hot dog stands!
