I see you've been able to 'flesh out' your pigeons since yesterday... As for the Mayoral candidate -- it's a much better choice than Cuomo, even though it is all a mystery as to how it play out. I agree, generational changes are so ripe and ready to evolve into the mix -- it's time!
Droll! We don't use droll enough but this is definitely droll. And the pigeons, as Katherine H Terhune says are just the right vehicle for this. As so status quo--I tried to do something different in my orals master's exam and ended up having to apologize to one of my committee members before they would pass me. Bucking the status quo is risky but worth it.
I hope Mamdani wins. He's very hopeful and his goals are going in the right direction. I think most of us actually want more Bernies, and he's close. His goals are aspirational. With an over arching value of placing working class citizens at the forefront of decisions. Hope we get the chance, given what 47 & company are doing.
It's all the baggage that pulls Cuomo's face down. I think the New Yorker missed a bet by not buying the cartoon. It's funny as is, but even more comical in context. Thanks, Liza; at least I got a chuckle today.
If this is the status quo we are all suffering through with the inhumane, Gestapo cruelty of this administration, then I am convinced that Donald j Trump will never die from a heart attack. Why? Because this man does not possess a human heart.
What, you say? What’s a bigger moniker than one that jabs at the current United States Government, specifically the President,
In answer I say, we need to focus and develop a stratagem which targets ‘’Mainstream Americans’’.
Maybe 5.5 million of the reported 6.0 million participants of the ''No Kings'' protest event were ‘’Mainstream Americans’’, members of that untapped vote block, the Great Silent Majority.
[The last 1/2 million were organizers and their assistants, and the more strident type of regular protestors, and such. They are part of the voter block too, but let’s disregard them, for now.]
The great silent majority can be broken up into two parts:
1. the ‘Seen Silent Majority’, and,
2. the ‘Unseen Silent Majority’
The 'Seen Silent Majority' came out in big numbers to the ''No Kings'' protest event. Maybe 5.5 million nationwide. Great Numbers! We all know we can do better, right?
The 'Unseen Silent Majority' are those who stayed away from the protest event, for whatever reasons.
Lets see; 330 million people in the U.S., minus 174 registered voters [already committed] = 156 million remaining Americans, minus 56 million [children younger than 8, and others] = 100 million Silent Majority Americans, minus, maybe, 5.5 million = 85 million remaining Silent Majority Americans to join in silent, peaceful, union with the 'Seen Silent Majority', who came out in big numbers to the ''No Kings'' protest event. 85 million remaining Silent Majority Americans. Great Numbers! [tho, the numbers may be off, but not a lot].
Every election cycle, it seems, there's commentary and articles aplenty regarding what is in the minds and hearts of the Silent Majority of the voting populace. Suppositions abound.
One of the primary methods we utilize to ascertain what percentage of the Silent Majority is making their minds and hearts known, is by studying overhead cameras images to capture the number of peaceful event walkers along the protest route.
A person can walk along in a parade and silently and peacefully protest, and yet still be counted from overhead. And that, frankly, is all that is needed, An ever-increasing visual documentation of the diverse silent and peaceful involvement of increasingly larger chunks of the Silent Majority.
Maybe a new moniker for the next event would be: Silent Majority Protests Peacefully & Silently.
And then maybe in two months' time the newer moniker would be: Millions More Silent Majority Protestors are Seen and Still Silently, Peacefully, Protesting.
And then in two months’ time after that protest event the even newer moniker would be: An Estimated 60 Million Silent Majority Protesters are Seen and Still Silently, Peacefully, Protesting.
Keep following this formula and maybe in less than a year enough people will be coming out to peaceful and relatively silent protest events that a Tipping Point number of individuals will have been ‘Seen’.
From there on out the flood of ‘Seen Silent and Peaceful’ protestors coming out to make their mind’s ideas and their heart’s visions known to the media-informed public just by showing up and being filmed from above by news cameras or drones or people high up on balconies in tall buildings along the protest route, will climb higher and higher until the voting public, and their current senators and representatives, come to understand that this number of ‘Seen Silent and Peaceful’ protestors is waay, waay, larger than the constituencies they seem to be beholden to currently.
When the biggest party in the United States is the Silent Majority Party, inclusive of a great number of the Silent Majority, who will now feel more confident to speak of the will of that Silent Majority, and also speak to the will of the remaining minority of all people within the United States, then the lobbyists and the money manipulators, the hucksters and the charlatans, which are currently puppet-stringing the administrative entity which controls these United States, will receive the justice they will deserve.
Then: ‘’We, the People‘’ will endeavor to communally regain control of our lives, and the lives of our children, and our children’s children, and our children’s children’s children.
One way to make this happen is to discern what is in the hearts and minds of the Silent Majority.
One of the ways to gauge the temperament and thinking of the ‘Seen Silent and Peaceful Majority’ will be through studying the content of their personally created protest signs. Issues will tend to crystallize, the commentary in future protest events will evolve to give focus and direction for communal public policies.
Another way is that public speakers and additional organizers will evolve out of this ever-growing, more-recently ‘Seen Silent and Peaceful Majority,’ hopefully providing a more coherent voice to the wishes of the vast majority of the people within these United States.
A third way would be in refining the outcomes of the polling organizations already in existence. Possibly a look at the breakdowns of the polled people, might yield more accurate, ‘Seen Silent Majority’-inclusive, data.
As a consequence, a rapidly-growing and more informed, majority of the populace of the United States would begin to be somewhat-more trusting of their governments, along with feeling safer within their community environments, the more they realize that a vast majority of the United States populace is with them, and frankly, until recently, just as silent as they have been.
Time, and the consuming of time in unworthy social policies, is what dooms most social movements, such as this one I'm writing about currently. An antidote to the doom we feel is what's needed.
An antidote to the doom we feel is to conduct ever larger protest events, which are recorded from overhead so that a somewhat accurate count of the protest participants can be counted.
As the increases begin to add up, more of the ‘Unseen Silent Majority’ will come out to participate.
That’s what Democracy looks like!

To answer your discussion question, I broke the status quo for myself by commenting online. I like your pigeons, have spent most of my time with the New Yorker by looking at the comics, and still regard NYC as a hub in the universe because my mother was born, was raised, and worked there from her start at 15 until she moved at 34.
It will change the pigeons view !🐦⬛
The pigeons are perfect! Go, Liza. Great commentary today too, as always it is. Grateful.

Your pigeons are great! They have personality and wit as well as looking like pigeons.
Liza, you got the bird thing!

Would it be a less nice day for you if you skipped the 2 minutes of hate today?
We need as big a protest event as ''No Kings'...
…but with a more focused moniker.

Love the cartoon! The New Yorker is loosing cred by the minute.... they're being entirely too careful and corporate-driven in my opinion.... Shame.
