The best cartoons take us back to our childhood fascination with picture books and comics and as yours do, make what was invisible, visible. May you continue to gain new subscribers to your one-of-a-kind, smile inducing, inspiring daily posts.

Random rambles. News today feels light. Drawing made me think of at least one pair of great grandparents who scandalously went west unmarried. Look forward to your collaboration with Heather.

I really enjoyed seeing you both yesterday! My two favorite sub stacks! Thanks Liza. I love the cartoon— my husband told me in the second year of our marriage back in the 70s we were moving to Arizona. Yikes! 2000 miles away from my family when I was expected my first child. He was adventurous and I was a home body. A surprise for sure, but a bit more than Chablis and fries. (Turned out fine in the long run)

Your chat with Heather yesterday was wonderful and I especially loved it when you showed her the covered wagon people and she broke into that delightful laughter. Just the thing to belly-laugh amidst the grim news! Thanks again, Liza, for your storied drawings!

This is wonderful, Liza. And yes drawings are history. And education. And consolation.

And story telling in its very purest form.

I so enjoy your illustrations! I sent this one to a friend recovering from an injury thinking it would cheer her up. I understand and appreciate the desire to care about both the written word and the image.

Liza, I wanted to contribute to your film but I don't want to set up an account on YouTube. (I know, I know, very unmodern of me.) Can I send you a contribution on this substack account? Sorry to be a problem. Anyway. Loved your conversation with Heather and REALLY love the idea of you and her working together. And, just thank you for being so open and honest---thank you for being here.
