A quiet post today of drawings and photos from yesterday. The day was spent filming for the documentary, Women Laughing. Here are some of the sketches—on actual paper this time, not digital—that I did during the filming around NYC.
Above was outside the American Museum of Natural History. And below, two women in Bryant Park (full disclosure, the two women are the producer and co-director of our documentary, posing for me).
Below are two random women snapping photos. By this time, my hands were frozen.
And this was what they were taking pics of! It was so cold!
My friend and producer Judith Mizrachy, snapped this of me outside the AMNH when I was sketching. I am quite fond of that museum, it was where I had my first job in NYC, in the Exhibition Department.
I took these two pics below. I love the pigeons.
And the Upper West Side brownstones never disappoint.
Finally, after our shoot, we stopped by the Algonquin Hotel and had some bubbly, sitting at the Round Table, courtesy of the management! Toasting the (perhaps) end to our filming for the doc.
Thanks for being here, I need to take a nap. See you tomorrow!
This is an absolutely marvelous post. Yes, the nap. So so important. Thank you for everything. As always, you mix elegance, whimsy, fact, and timelessness, all woven into a tiny swatch of tapestry. It’s beautiful that you recognized and continue to recognize your calling. We’re all so grateful.
Lovely post! Love the sketches and photos. Hope you’re glad to be near or at the end of the filming stage. I hope you enjoy the editing phase. It can be really fun to work w a good editor!
