Glad you’re back to swimming - such a great way to spend time / get an all around workout! And - all the water creates a veritable fountain for bad jokes and puns. Maybe this is a caption for a cartoon you can doodle: “She who laps last, laps best.” 🥳
Jones Beach. I am 6. Blinded by the water, I stagger to the life guard (Uncle Ralph has disappeared). Eventually, I find my parents; preoccupied with baby brother. Worst sunburn of my life. Hahahahhahaha
Only 60 years ago. Miss you Mom and Dad. Love you baby brother :D
I feel your exhaustion! I recently started swimming again after a long break, few decades. I had a total knee replacement in May and the PT's suggested swimming as a good form of exercise as I'm having a hard time increasing my step count. Sheesh that face down in the water not breathing thing takes it right out of you. After a month now I'm feeling much better, :-)
I've been paddling around in water literally since infancy, and I never did learn that "Australian Crawl", face-in-the-water stroke. This may sound a little counterintuitive, but if you really like moving around in the water, try using a diver's mask, snorkel, and swim fins. Your body is in a very relaxed position (you're basically floating face down); you can breathe in a natural cadence, rather than panting; and the mask lets you see underwater without killing your eyes. The fins let you propel yourself forward with a degree of effort more like moderate walking. High-level aerobic workouts can be a good thing, if you're an athlete in training, but if you're just trying to keep your cardio-pulmonary system in good working order, a lower level of exertion for a longer period might be less exhausting and more enjoyable. Just a thought.
Rehoboth Beach! That's where my family went summers. My parents were both strong ocean swimmers. What I remember best are the exciting storms and the little scurrying sand crabs!
My grandparents had a beautiful waterfront home on Lake Washington in the Seattle area; it was only a few miles from where we lived, and during the summer, we were there practically every day. I was born in May, and my mother told me she me got me into the water that summer. Swimming, and water generally, have been a beautiful part of my life ever since.
Hope to see you in Zoom Land later today. I presume (hope) you'll let us watch you draw. (Fun fact: my name, Ward, is "draw" spelled backwards.)
Looking forward to the zoom tomorrow.
Love the comic - and allow me to say that’s one beautiful little girl (with a good looking dad)
Thanks! He was:)

I spent time today conditioning myself for the upcoming news week; I planted cactus 🌵.
Good plan!
Great photo! Wonderful memory I’m sure.
Oh, how I miss the beach, but skin cancer put an end to that.
Oh dear, so sorry!
Love this. I swim/do water aerobics almost everyday. Make it a regular routine that is fun and not based on having to do a certain amount of laps.
Great photo, my dear! Have similar ones with my dad through 2 generations....
A swimming family for sure Cousin Kate!
It's don't labor day. Enjoy. Rest. Rejuvenate..... get ready for the fireworks.
Love the cartoon. As for the picture of you with your father, awwwww…..
I love the picture, I have 2 daughters, miss the days when I was "daddy" but love them greatly. Get some rest.
