A quick post tonight as I watch the State of the Union speech. Halfway in, President Biden is doing extremely well. He’s strong, energetic, comfortable. And he has already gotten several laughs from the audience. It is a very electric SOTU, people are excited and anxious to support Joe by clapping and standing and cheering “four more years!”
“When American falls down, we get back up! That’s America! Because of YOU! The state of our union is stong and getting stronger!”
He also had great moments of quiet and intimacy. It was political, but it had to be because his “predicessor,” as he called Trump in his speech numerous times, is a menace and needed to be called out frequently.
Live-drawing is something I began eight years ago during a State of the Union speech by President Obama.
Here is the first one.
And a very memorable moment:
Another memorable moment at the end of Trump’s speech when Nancy Pelosi ripped up his speech:
See you tomorrow!
That ‘Obama-Ginsberg hug’ should be a print. A keeper!
I watched with some trepidation knowing his enemies would glom onto and exploit anything worth exploiting. But Biden was good tonight. He did well with his prepared speech and I enjoyed the ad libing. Tonight I was thinking when he kind of slurs and stumbles in his speech that maybe his brain is working faster than his mouth and isn’t that a good thing?
