Decency. Who thought it would be such a hard thing to ask for?

How about this for a lie machine: a gop elephant with its trunk facing upwards with lies spewing forth? BTW, your essays and comics are the best ♥️

Concerning decency, the word does not exist in Trump’s vocabulary. His assault on women is beyond indecency, especially his and the GOP’s trolling of women about abortion. Here is my take on abortion. As a former Catholic priest, I propose “Christian Abortion.” For a Christian, life is a gift, a divine gift. If a woman, considering her total situation, decides to end a pregnancy, she is not taking a life, but prayerfully returning a life, the gift of life to its creator. As Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me.”

Thank you for this. Who’d ever thought money could take us in such an evil direction. Very disappointing CBS is too chicken to point out Vance’s barrage of blatant lies that are inevitable. I think Walz will be great in spite of all that. Good to hear about the signs in your area. I’m in the country in NC and don’t see many, but sadly my nearest neighbor flies a trump flag. I can’t visit and sit under it, even though they are good neighbors.

I'm happy and thank God to hear the signs are more pro-Kamala in Maine. I was nervous to put mine out, but did anyway, and I'm wearing my comma-la Tee-shirt out and about. I've never felt nervous about what I wear or what I put on my front lawn in all my many years. It is like we're living in a state with Black Shirts, Hitler like. And that statement about having a free-for-all, that the orange man spouted. I mean isn't that against the law (ok, but nothing is against the law for him)????....That's inciting to riot, is it not? The very last straw for me was he tweeted the Michael, the Archangel prayer.... on his feed. I'm surprised lightening didn't strike him. Decency, indeed. Thanks Liza.

Hi Liza, Thanks for getting the message out. I’m glad the focus in the media is increasingly on character. I have friends who have a policy preference for Trump (which also astounds me), but this is not about policy. It is about the integrity of our democracy and the character of our leadership. It is existential, not political.

His comments on a window of violence is, I believe, from "The Purge", which was a movie or TV show...didn't watch so not sure. I've been expecting that, but to say it out loud, as he's saying everything, is super scary...these insane ideas definitely trickle down and around his base.

Not sure this file will get to you but here’s a lie machine for you. Love your cartoons! Wish I could do that!

Thanks to your mention, I read JoJo's post from the ballgame too. It was sad. Glad she's a tough cookie.

I had to look at The New York Times to see for myself that they endorsed Harris. It was the Editorial Board who said she was “The Only Patriotic Choice for President”. It was the Opinion column of The New York Times.

The reason I was very skeptical that The New York Times endorsed Harris is headline after headline is always about Trump. And they rarely say anything bad about him. I am totally disgusted with the Times!

Here’s to all of us who stand up for decency in America.

My husband and I were discussing tonight the ‘grey people’ that Trump’s 2015-16 rhetoric brought out: racists and misogynists. We believe the same folks will show up this year as a result of trump’s promise of mass deportations and the fact of Kamala’s existence. We will need every vote to win this one. Make no mistake about it!

Pleasantly surprised by NYT endorsement.

Liza, I think of you first as an artist, but as I read your essays, I so appreciate your insightful commentary, too. You know how to get to the heart of the matter, in both words and pictures.

Two major themes are the open lying, and the naked mandate of winning at all costs which the lying serves to do because of its intention for confusing people.

The maggots aren't confused, they just love the theater of it and the retribution they feel they would get for their own hate and anger uses.

Dems simply don't know how to deal with such openly crass stuff except for Kamala showing us the way so recently, and there is a certain amount of naivete among them. It's the staunch Republicans and the independents who have to process a lot more with the confusion that comes at them. The liars really enjoy what they are pugnaciously defiantly doing to any sense of established authority, and they really can't deal with anything but winning any way they can, so the means fit the ends. The irony of course being that they want to be in authority with nothing stopping them. Little kid stuff all the way. They're only getting away with it thus far because people weren't equipped for such bald stupidity.

Hope that helps.
