Well, yesterday was interesting. I was on a flight east from LA, and watched the removal of Kevin McCarthy via the NY Times live feed. Even in that somewhat static video, it was riveting. I felt the subtext, and still feel it. McCarthy made a deal with the devil when he maneuvered his way into the position of Speaker of The House, and his lack of moral compass has come back to get him. He lost the position. I am glad to see him go—his farewell press conference last night was incredibly egotistic, full of accusations, bravado, pontification and excuses—but I wonder if his replacement will be any better. Jim Jordan and Steve Scalise now want the job. Meanwhile, the House is paralized, with no governing for the American people.
The mess within the GOP is clearly because of Trump. He has been stirring the pot for over seven years, ever since he joined that party and ran for President in 2016. I don’t enjoy watching this recent spectacle, except in the hopes that it helps remove Trump’s influence in our government. I don’t know if this recent drama will do that. The extreme right contingient, who came into power in part because of Trump (and McCarthy) seem to have a strangle hold on too many members of the Republican Party. I wish the moderate, collaborative members could exert more power and get them back to governing.
Everything out of the mouth of Trump stirs the pot.
I did another version, inspired by Halloween. But I don’t want to insult witches!
Happy Wednesday, see you tomorrow!
So good! How about a sequel with him IN the pot while stirring it?
I think witches will understand. I find the the mention of Jordan as a possible Speaker to be repulsive.
Among many concerns it seems both Jordan and Gaetz are sock puppets for Trump.
