I woke up this morning furious at how the Republican candidate for President is still being treated as if a normal person, a normal candidate. Here are the latest things that need to be kept in the news cycle and addressed:
Trump put RFK Jr (who sawed off a dead whale’s head, a possible federal offense, and posed a dead bear on a bicycle, not to mention his unhinged theories about vaccines) on his transition team.
Trump is selling NFT playing cards of himself in “heroic” poses. At a very high price, I might add. THe New Republic calls it “as scammy as ever.”
Trump posed with a “thumbs up” by the grave of a war hero at Arlington Cemetery. His campaign apparently shoved a cemetary worker in order to videotape Trump, which is not allowed without permission. The campaign then claimed the worker was “having a mental health episode.” The person who was involced declined to press charges because she was afraid of retribution from Trump.
Trump reposted a sexual insult towards Kamala Harris and Hillary Clinton.
Trump reposted this:
Trump sells gold sneakers for his personal financial gain.
What else? Need I go on?
Where could Trump do a thumbs-up that could be worse? As I thought of what to draw for this post, I took my mind there. Where would he do for a thumbs-up photo-op in front of if he thought it would help him: Auschwitz, a lynching, a rape?
But I cannot draw those things.
To be fair, some individuals in the media are seriously calling Trump out. Journalist John Harwood tweeted that Trump is “mentally ill.” And just now, I watched Anderson Cooper’s on-air editorial from last night, in which he says all the things I am attempting to say in this post.
Here is the video of Cooper’s thoughts: https://x.com/AC360/status/1828958107868754146
For fun, I go back to simpler days, when the media got all in a tizzy when President Obama wore a tan suit. It was the anniversary of this event yesterday. When I saw him on CNN at the news conference, I drew it immediately. It was kind of unusual to see him in a tan suit, I admit, and it was funny how nuts the media went.
Yesterday, it was mentioned again:
I doubt there’s anything to this, but I love that the Harris team is strategic in needling Trump and the media. They are on offense, which I am not used to seeing with Democrats.
Tonight she is giving a long interview with Dana Bash of CNN, and Tim Walz will be there as well. I feel that by not doing a solo interview, she is being strategic as if to say, “I will do what I want and not be bullied by Trump or the press.”
What do you think?
Thanks for being here. See you tomorrow!
The trouble with imagining new lows for Trump's behavior is that because
he will probably steal and use them as yours will be far more imaginative.
Thanks for your work.
I think your posts are the “need to know” basis, very important and balances the crazy.. Your always drawings hit the mark with me! Love them
