Yes. And yes to “try everything.”

Try everything is what I say to my grandson— he too is skeptical of casseroles with marshmallows!

I had not thought of the racial component, but it makes sense.

I totally agree with Ange Amene. I think 100% of my Black female friends on Twitter, of which there are quite few, would, too, Most of them are die-hard members of the K-Hive, and though no one says it, I think many of them would be delighted if Biden got elected and died shortly after. I don't blame them if they do. They are very clear about the paternalism and racism in this country, and are proud to be who they are. They would love to see one of theirs become President. and so would I. I don't think Biden is too old to be President, though I suspect that 4 years from now he will be. But what do I know? I figured Obama was almost certain to be assassinated during his first term (way to go, Secret Service!). I thought we'd end up being proud of Clinton, at least for his policies, some of which were pathetically awful. So maybe my mild reservations about Kamala Harris are equally wrong. I'll be happy enough to find out. And not just because it will drain the MAGA folks of whatever drops of sanity remain.

I love Kamala, and she is decidely on Team Democracy of course. I too thought Obama would be assasinated early, so grateful to the Secret Service. Joe seems fine to me also at the moment, and if he passed away in his second term--don't wish that on him-- KH would be fab.

Yes white supremacy (a word many like to avoid) remains a part of our economy and world views. Kamala's marginalization is not an oversight. As a white/het/Euro man in a white state I can largely slight these issues. Not so for people of color, as our history from the first slave ships remind us.

Thanks so for the food cartoons.Veggies have played a difficult place in my life. I write this from the handmade wooden kitchen table I helped build. My wonderful mother lets us kids carve anything in the top pf the table. So we have initials and-- two escape holes I drilled through the table. As we all hated canned veggies, the escape holes served as pathways to the eager dogs that gathered under the table. Years later, when cleaning the house I found a case of cans without labels. In an instant I knew exactly what they were. My sister had removed the cans from the kitchen and hid them in unused shelves where they rested for years..

Things have improved. Living in VT I would be asked to leave if I did not profess my love for fresh organic veggies; gratefuI to say 'm delighted by the veggies I grow in my garden...

And my mother loved to read and swim in lakes; she does not recall the food clashes.

I suppose a selective memory can be a good thing for all of us: me, my mother--and Biden.

Thanks for the comments about Kamala Harris and Biden. I hadn't even thought of that (being white), but it sure makes sense. But why are NY Times reporters so cruel to Biden? Are they scared of Kamala Harris, too?

I love the scary food cartoon. Yes, avoid marshmallows at all costs. Potluck food is particularly questionable in those parts of the country where green foods are unpopular. Once I went to a potluck in Port Union, Newfoundland (not the midwest, of course). I think there were 10 potato casseroles, probably all scalloped potatoes, and lots of extremely sweet cloudberry desserts.

I agree with all. I'm still reeling from the orange man saying that Putin could do "whatever the hell he wanted to," in his NATO remark.
