Every do often, I share drawings here that have nothing to do with current events… necessarily. They might be flashbacks, like the one above. I submitted the sketch as a cover idea for The New Yorker.
It was drawn right as we emerged from the pandemic, and it felt good to not have to worry about being on a crowded subway car. Ironically, yesterday I wore a mask on the subway for the first time in years, only because I am worried about getting sick before upcoming filming of my documentary.
In NYC news, Mayor Adams was indicted last night. We saw it coming, the FBI and other officials have been raiding homes and offices in the last few weeks. Unsure what it’s about, the indictment is sealed. This is ashame, if the charges end up being true. But we will get through it. It’s the first time a mayor of NYC has ever been indicted while in office.
Finally, I will be going live today at 1 pm EST! Join me! You will need the app to do so.
Gosh! You've nailed happiness in NY. To think I miss the joy of packing into those subway cars like sardines!
A crowded train brings back fond memories of Inauguration Day for President Obama. Each train was packed and people were delighted! They sang, talked to perfect strangers, and shared their happiness for what was about to happen later that day. I loved that experience as much as I loved participating in the run-up to the election. And now we’re doing it again…a bit older but just as enthusiastic!
