So charming. So funny! I play fetch with my Doberman every day in my large LA backyard. If I showed your cartoon to her, she would say Yes, YES, YESSSS!
Our little Ruby (she's a gem) is completely OBSESSED with playing fetch. She whines at me when the time rolls around. All she has to do is see the ball and she goes bonkers. We walk down to the vacant lot to play and greets anyone she sees on the way. Needless to say, all the neighbors know her and give her a pet. If someone is visiting I tell them she is the neighborhood ambassador as she goes up to them, tail wagging. I originally called my husband when I saw her and he said, "Do NOT buy her!!" He absolutely adores her and the rest is history.
I always envisage dogs saying, "Go get it yourself," whenever people throw a ball for them to fetch. I know that's what a cat would say. Oh, I'm sure you heard, but would love your commentary on the gold high tops the orange man is flogging at $399.00 a pair. I mean, really.... next he'll be doing T.V. ads for Prevegen...Hey maybe he should try that stuff. I hear it's good for memory and clear thinking. I am so embarrassed for our country....a Presidential candidate who is selling gold high tops to pay his legal bills. I mean, you couldn't make this stuff up.
I wanted to purchase a pair for a leftist wingnut I know. The plan was to buy with a prepaid gift and have delivered to his apartment complex office. EG
I asked a fellow employee how things were going and he replied "I'm doing something I don't like doing; that's why they call it 'work'." I loved my work so I was totally taken by surprise. It also explained why he did only the minimum to get by and had a bad attitude. I was really glad when he finally found a different line of work. I hope he enjoyed his new job.
Michel de Montainge, 16th century French philosopher, asked a similar question when playing with his cat, 'Which of us is playing with the other?'

My dog absolutely considers playing fetch, work. She refuses to do it 😁😁
Kind of like cross country skiing and golf combo (orange wiffle golf ball required)
We’re lucky if our cat tolerates us.

Kiera ( my elderly beagle) and I love this. Though past her fetching days, she’s still fetching. 🐶
This is a great cartoon for scientists who remind us not to project our ideas onto animals. 🤓🐾
I had one dog who was definitely indulging me by playing fetch with a “ I guess she needs an excuse to go to the park” look.
I’ve never seen a skiing dog before. What a great thought! Thanks for your whimsical days- they always lift my spirit!
