This was me a week ago. Then the culture strong-armed me. I tried to ignore all the press about White Lotus. I didn’t even read the stories, not interested, annoyed there was so much buzz. I had tried the first episode and said to myself, why should I care about these people?
However, my curiosity got the better of me, and since I am a culture-watcher by profession, I decided I had to figure out why people are really into this show. Also, FOMO. Almost done with season one, and I want your thoughts!
What does this show say about us, now? Why do we like it, if we do? Is it exceptional content?
But please tell me: do you love it, or hate it?
Ignoring shows has bit me in the foot before, like when I ignored Seinfeld, The Wire, The Sopranos—simply not wanting to follow the crowd. I finally caught up, but… Sometimes, I admit it, I am wrong!
I really liked the first season - it was fresh! I’ve started the second season and the characters are just not as interesting and I’m not going to continue but I will watch the last episode just to see what happened. I did try to do a cartoon once about getting together with friends who watched shows you didn’t finish so everyone could share how they ended and save you the trouble.

sophomoric shallow writing
