You are so intuitive with your drawings! I think most of us feel this way, trying to turn away from so much news but feeling drawn to it all so incessantly.

It’s a distraction technique to keep everyone overwhelmed and to possibly miss the real dangers. It’s maddening!

Do I feel this way? Yes. The huge NEWS is blaring scarily. Another way I feel sometimes is that "t" and his "friends" all have flame throwers pointed at the world (as a big globe in front of them) and they are firing at it (at us) but there are lots of SHIELDS popping up (more often and more often) and they are keeping the fire from affecting us so badly.

I'm so terrified of looking at the news that it has become an exercise in masochism to watch or read any. Each day seems worse than the last of that is even possible. You are always a bright spot, so thank you.

Each morning nowadays when I wake, I say to myself, (actually, I say it out loud): "What new hell awaits us today from the clown and his troupe?" I have been dipping into the news a bit more, though have to turn off the radio and pet the cats and the dog when I hear his voice.

We adopted dogs so we could pet them for our comfort. They are a handful. But stroking their fur makes us calmer.

Exactly how I feel! I can’t listen to NPR, or watch Kimmel or Colbert 😥

I can only pay attention obliquely. Like avoiding looking directly at the sun so I don’t go blind ..

Yes, but I find I have to face the Beast. Actually sent messages to those who 'represent' me. Cornyn Cruz, and Cuellar. At least I received an auto-reply from Cuellar and he does send a rep to the Strawberry Capital of Texas (Poteet) regularly. Also checked my SSI account. Everything *seems* normal but as my little brother (35 year vet in the Army) says; "Trust no one." So, we'll see what happens next. Good grief.

I feel so upset every time I look at the news these days. Thanks for the cartoon.

Yes, I feel that same way, Lisa! My best way of dealing with it is choosing people who give me the news rationally and calmly like Jim Acosta‘s new sub stack and Lawrence O’Donnell on MSNBC.

I went through this news overdose with Bush / Cheney. Fortunately, with prior horror shows, “news” saturation wasn’t as ubiquitous. I learned limits, not particularly well. It’s harder now. As a nation we are in the grips of mass insanity. It is also clear that as a nation we are not alone.
