I just left Florida, where I spoke to benefactors of the Ringling College of Art and Design, a very impressive college. Among many great things, the college is number one in teaching animation. I really wish I had the time to learn more animation (I’ve done some)—perhaps its just a matter of making it happen!
Thank you. Good question. Perhaps it started as a young girl, my father was a birder and took me along. I like(ed) drawing all animals (except male lions, they are hard). Birds are so various, and colorful. And playful.

Love the bird drawings, as well as, "the fisherman". The birds are exotic and beautiful to my northern eye. I live by the water (Chesapeake Bay) and always find it wonderful that the water is often somewhat of an 'equalizer' ... someone can be in an expensive boat while others find pleasure and relaxation sitting with simple gear enjoying a pleasant day in the outdoors.
Thank you for sharing your observations of the Southeast, expressed with eloquence.
As always, thank you for sharing your valuable thoughts on the creative process.
Thank you, Paul. It was interesting to feel myself attracted to the area in a way I did not expect. I love what you say about equlizer--although the disparity of wealth in these kinds of areas is always hard to see.
Love this. Liza, can you talk a bit about why you enjoy drawing birds? What is it about them? Also, where is the best place to order your book?
