My 10 year old nephew once, after sitting and listening to his parents worrying out loud for a good long while, exclaimed with a smile, βitβs fun to worry!β
I felt bad I couldnβt come up with a poem this week in my poetry group... but 3 others had the same kind of hard stop. There will be light shining again from time to time- but itβs deadening to feel so sad in these grim times.
Youβre the best. Iβm actually Canadian and right now I am in San Miguel in Mexico. The world feels as you do and everything that happens in the US affects all of us deeply, unfortunately.
When youβre ready to draw again, how about one potentially bright spot in the news today: Xi and Biden meeting together to turn down the heat. Man. I literally pray for this!
Oh, no....not Fluffy! Well, I agree with all you wrote. Indeed, I had to smile when I read an article that said "The Rock," the movie star was thinking of running or they want him to run in place of the orange man. Then someone said, "We don't want any movie stars to be president," until someone else said two words: Ronald Reagan. I can relate to the kid who asked about being worried. I came out of the womb a worrywart and have been one all my life. Thanks for drawing through the difficulty.
Good for you to rest Liza (My guess is it does not come ez to you) Here is an ez solution: rest through some type of beloved exercise or go serve meals at a food bank etc. Resting clears the mind and tomorrow's work will be ever more polished. Make sure you are not too harsh on yourself. We care bout you.If no food bank--start one..
For sheer delightsee the website of a retired cop who started one in Lyndonville Vt (Google Shares) . Check out Soulfire Farm outside Albany. And visit the website of Heartbeet [yes beet] in Hardwick VT. All stunning creations
Thanks, bob. I just discovered Soul Farm and ordered some things from them for gifts for the holidays. I should go visit in person! All that you suggest are good.
The news always seems depressing these days. Gaza deaths, Trump, the legislature, and opioid deaths all continue to be so agonizing. Let's hear it for The Rock?
Between our non-functional congress and the mess In the Middle East, there is little to like in todayβs world. Thank you for the gift of humor you bring to us every day.
Fluffy looks kind of stunned to me. Two weeks later, I can see her still sitting on the table saying, "Daddy, can I stop worrying yet?"
I don't worry about current events a lot. Whatever is going on, the country has been through much worse. COVID was horrible and deadly and really scary. Probably most of us lived through the Watergate mess (and yes, the Republican Senators came through on that one!). I also remember the Cuban Missile Crisis and my dad building a bomb shelter in the basement. Even before that I remember practicing hiding under my useless school desk in case of a nuclear attack. The two World Wars were much bigger crises, and so was the Depression, which my parents never did totally get over. Joe McCarthy was a pretty successful villain in the '50s, and so was polio. There was a huge revival of the KKK in the '20s, before that the huge influenza epidemic. I take me cue from Alfred E. Neuman: "What? Me worry?" Yes, we Americans know how to set up a joke....
Liza, I think that we all are having the same problem, feeling anything but hopeful that humans can change and add a lot more positivity to their lives. I did just get out of hospital and rehab after a very difficult surgery and recovery. The staff at that hospital expressed nothing but positive vibes when it was difficult to find some. Their attitudes made a huge difference in my recovery. Try to feed off any positive vibe. Even Fluffy was a positive!!

You have an interesting nephew! Wonder what he will grow up to be.
These days... oofa (a phrase Iβm getting partial to)

Thank you, Lauralee, for your words. You are right, we will have light again, but it seems far off.
Funny and humane and why there's so much to like even now in America. I've given in and subscribed from an ardent kiwi fan.
Thank you so much, Glen. Glad to have you onboard!

I'm so sorry. But the world is so connected, you are right. For good and bad. Thank you.
Ah Lisa. Yes.
We all feel your pain.

I almost wrote about the Xi Biden meet-up, it's hopeful! I also watched Biden's news conference last night, and he was so good. Thank you.

Thanks, Allia!

Good chuckle on 'fluffy'

Thank you, James. I hope you are all recovered now. Aren't hospital staff just amazing?
