My husband (who is a New Yorker cartoonist as well) challenged me the other day and asked if I was able to draw a backhoe, or a tractor or whatever this thing is called. So I did. I showed him! And without referencing anything! And then of course, I placed a cat there, because, why not?
You never need a reason to draw a cat. In fact, if every one of your brilliant drawings had a hidden cat somewhere, even if he/she weren't pronounced, but were there....somewhere (....beyond the sea, the cat is waiting for me, la, la, la) Oh, I got distracted. Yes, you never need a reason to draw a cat, but might need one NOT to draw one. No one would look at the backhoe or tractor or whatis anyway, when there's a cat in the drawing. ,,^..^,, xo And today, if I could draw, I'd draw a cat with a sign that reads, "Cats Against Banned Books."
... and the magnificent cat completely dominates the machine. Hahhahha!!!
Don't know why, but I love that!
Hahaha!! Interesting observation!
Of course you placed a cat there! Thanks for the laugh, Liza.
Once you’ve come to love cats, you see them everywhere.
Backhoes? Not so much.
LOL!
Sigh. Your farm machinery needs work. This is neither a backhoe nor a tractor. The cat is tremendous, however!
On the other hand, it is a Cat!
I think you have the makings of a great sit-com!
Seriously!
Do you have any connections, Sherman? I agree!
Love this.
...because it’s a Cat-a-puller tractor 🤣
Good one.
Thanks, you bicoastal girl.
Har har!
Very punny, a drawing with two distinct breeds of cats.

I'm impressed. I don't know what a backhoe is and that's a nice looking tractor. With the cat, you scored a trifecta!
“Take me to your feeder.”
Ha!! That's a good caption, Philip!
