At any given moment, this view had an assortments of birds vying for the pillar and the floating thingys. I drew these guys, two seagulls and two cormorants. This is in Barnegat Bay, New Jersey, where I’ve also seen osprey, herons, terns, pelicans and peregrin falcons. So great.
I liked your decision to take the boat out but to balance the post the bird is sitting on, perhaps a small land indentation on the upper left. I am in awe of how you draw. Yesterday you started with a person's leg curled and went from there. I would have no idea how to specially lay out the image. Probably why I stick to photography. So much easier.

Beautiful, but it begs for a caption! Mentally I see them saying among themselves "I'll sure be glad to have Labor Day over with!' or "It will be great not to have to perform for food until next summer." I know you would come up with something better.
No US Open drawings? I’m struck by the emergence of muscleman players in tank tops, stylish ladies in low cut outfits, severe attempts at daring tennis attire (male and female). Sort of like the difference between the designer wear in the New York Times and the clothes real people wear.
No, although it is ripe for live drawing. I tried to get access last year in-person. No luck! I prefer in-person if I can, although I do love doing political hearings and impeachments from the tv.
Because you show us the original, and then the final drawing, I can see why you removed the boat. It has a completely different feel, leaving the water only to the birds. Even without a caption, it’s a lovely drawing. Makes me think of “Summer’s End,” one of John Prine’s last songs.

Is it my term? Sorry, couldn’t resist. Looks like a gorgeous place for a Holiday Weekend.
TERN .. not term another whoops. 😬
Happiness!
Love it, thanks. The birds all seem focused on something off to our left. Hope they got what they wanted.
