You sound like someone thinking about a sabbatical. I know of an apartment in the 16th arrondissement coming available this fall, should you be interested.
I was just telling another creator today that of my 100+ paid Substack subscriptions that you give more and greater variety of perks than any other account I support.
Oh! The photos! So great to ‘see’ Paris. I love it also. So lucky (and priviledged) to be able to go there, we are. I especially love this caption ‘Pigeons discussing Notre Dame, or perhaps the new Pope’. Made me laugh out loud. Thx for sharing your adventures.
Liza, what a lovely post, all the beautiful quiet of Paris in a nutshell. Amazing what layers of human presence brings to a place; all the ghosts bringing a soft joy and appreciation. You passed it on, beautifully. Thank you.
thanks for letting us join in your walkabout. the shot of Notre Dame is so special. the pigeons were probably taking note of you. do I hear Edith Piaf in the distance?
Birds in rooftop conversation. A crowd of columns. Chairschairschairs. Eye contact on the "L" or equivalent. A MAN READING A NEWSPAPER IN FRONT OF A WOODEN DOOR! And one woman walking her black dog. ...I don't know what to make of the person wearing the flak jacket, pleated skirt, and heavy boots. I like your words, Liza. About the quiet streets.
Such wonderful photos. My favorite is the man reading the newspaper in front of the wooden door. Enlarging it to see the man close up would make a great painting. I am living life large in Santa Fe. Isn't travel great?!!!
You brought back some wonderful memories of our times in Paris, including once when my husband was wearing a boot due to a fall and people on the Metro offered us their seats. They were gracious and kind to us, not at all what we had been led to expect.

ce selfie du métro est un classique, en quelque sorte.

Thanks for the tour.
It may be obvious, but I'll say it anyway: What an eye you have
Laissez les bons temps rouler!
Even the pigeons look more elegant in Paris. Great pictures.
