OMG I love this so much! In the summertime my sister and I like to go swimming at the house we grew up in in the suburbs of NY. And it never ceases to amaze (and disgust) me that it's noisier going for a swim in the backyard in CT than it is walking a block to my local bodega on Sixth Avenue. Oy.

Yea funny how we as humans need order in a chaotic natural world . The 50’s American culture prob had a lot to do with it. But aside, they are useful for mountain bike trail maintenance keeping dirt exposed easier to drain and get traction on. Wet leaves under tires can lead to hospitalization.. and yea busy busy is kinda overrated !! #rubbersidedown 🚵🏼‍♂️ 🤪 TY for this Liza ! 🙏

“I guess he needed to be busy.”

It’s crazy but I like the conjured image of the man standing by the side of a country road with leaf blower blowing leaves back into woods...

Yes... mulching the trees so the leaves don't go to waste. I love that!

So funny! Adults acting like kids which isn't that unusual. AKA men with boy toys. No longer need to jump in raked leaves, just blow 'em! I love your leaf cartoons, they're all so great. Thanks!

I really should be cranking up the leaf blower because I’m a wyte dude in the suburbs but instead I’m making videos about a book and misbehaving. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8SHv37G/

And, yes, leaf wars are much preferable to all the wars going on. It would be lovely and a miracle to only have leaf wars. I'm so weary of the others.

Right. If we must have wars, battles, invasions, fights, skirmishes, ambushes, combat, fisticuffs...let’s have them with already dead objects such as leaves.

In fall, leaves on country roads or any roads where there are many trees get matted and slick after rain (cyclists, walkers and cars be careful). Leaves collecting on the edges of the roads clog avenues for rain run-off and roads easily flood. Even in suburbs with many tree stands some towns fine us for not keeping gutters clear. Leaves blown back into nearby woods or wood lots provide excellent winter shelter for all kinds of insects and critters and then turn into natural compost.

Yep they become slick and dangerous to drivers. That said we had a neighbor who blew leaves on his lawn into the middle of the street. What a jerk. He ask threw shovelfuls of snow into the street - after they’d been plowed. (So when he has a yard sale I boycott him. That’ll teach him, right?)

We already have mow free yards in small towns in Vermont. I think that also means, by extension, that leaf blowers are invisibly forbidden. Yea!.

Like Andy, I’m a pretty serious mountain biker with miles of trails in all directions nearby. We use rakes and shovels of course in building and maintaining trails but I’ve never heard the sound of a leaf blower anywhere in Vermont ‘s gorgeous trail system. Maybe we should just slow down if the trails are wet and slippery as happens a lot. I spent an hour this morning, pushing my bike through streams, mud, rocky trails and wet leaves, and somehow found the whole process enjoyable . Live with kindness and care good friends.

ahhhahahha.... first of all I love the idea of the war blowing leaves all over us. I'd fight that war!

And secondly, omg woman... you are truly a City Girl!

Please drive to Connecticut, find a big leafy lawn with a man (or woman) blowing leaves. Introduce yourself, explaining "I'm from the city." And then ask if you can see his blower. But maybe take Michael with you, in case there's any confusion what you're asking.

But aren't autumn leaves so pretty? As for your leaf-blowing man, its probably one of the few things he can do that will make a difference to the world around him! I kid YOU not 😉 love the drawing.

I now live in a small Western Mass town -- going round from January: snow blowers, leaf blowers, "let's get out to the country!" motocyclists, lawn mowers, weed whackers, chain saws, fireworks, leaf-peeping motorcyclists, hunters, leaf blowers again and, with some luck, quiet for a day or two. It is quiet at night, though and sirens are rare.
