Contrarian piece written by Laurence Tribe, constitutional scholar of unimpeachable reputation. Not to drive people away from Liza's substack, but this is a very important issue. (Note that Liza is a cartoonist of unimpeachable reputation; she can probably draw circles around Tribe, and is almost certainly funnier.
No doubt about the drawing and humor!! Just wanted to add in the Tribe piece as in other media there are a lot of people grousing about Biden without knowing much about the law.
I have an investment idea. Put your money in lip balm. Why? Because many people especially the very rich will soon have raw chapped lips from kissing the rear end of a certain Mar-A-Lago dictator.
So very happy to witness the success of the exhibit. And so very happy about Biden's declaration on ERA. Travelling mercies. Thanks for all you do. Stay safe and sane.
Liza, the fulcrum is off center. Did you mean to imply that women are heavier, or perhaps weightier, than men? (BTW, did you know fulcrum means bedpost in Latin!?)
Statistically, there are more women than men. I guess I can understand why the cartoon is absolutely gender divided. But the truth of the divide is that it has always been mixed genders on both sides. People seem to take up sides for emotional draw, personality inclination, and group identity. Later, there’s a lot of rationalization that goes on to mask the thoughtlessness that drives much of human behavior. I realize this is a mostly incoherent description. Life’s like that. From the age of three or four, I have always been on the left side of the teeter totter. I also think the other side is best communicated with by an attitude of inclusion rather than opposition.
Ah! You’re in town. You’ll be busy and later tired and still busy, but if you’re not already familiar with Blues Alley, a small live music supper club in Georgetown, I urge you to go. It’s unique. Small. Quite. Best jazz, blues, etc artists in the nation. Located on Wisconsin, 1/2 block south of M St. Shows start at 7 & 9. Get tickets from their website only. Show up when doors open at 6. Or at 8:30. You’ll be glad you did.
The Equal Rights Amendment was not ratified by three-fourths of the states within the stipulated time limit (which was even extended for, as I recall, three years). That was over twenty years ago. Why Biden—or the people manipulating him—came up with this last-minute nonsense is a perplexing question. If it’s an issue of such burning urgency, why has the President waited until now to raise it?

Be safe in DC, no one knows what might happen.

PS. it’s not “quite”, it’s quiet.
Until you said it was the Editor, I could have sworn it was David Pouge!
