Turns out this stack's censor is on your side, Crone.

Diversity of opinion is forbidden here. Good to know.

Seems like another view is met with either silence or insults. Or censorship.

And then you wonder why people are turning away from woke in droves?

If I was a migrant, I sure would not want to come to America. Never in my lifetime did I think that our "leaders" would not only kill the American dream, but allow Americans and immigrants to die along with it.

Michael, I am convinced that is precisely the point. Drumpf has surrounded the entire nation with a wall of KEEP OUT BEWARE OF DOGS! And perhaps the most painful part is that half the citizenry agrees with him. They seem not to know that all of their ancestors came from somewhere else to escape a bad situation and build a better life for their offspring—that was the American Dream.

We haven't forgotten. I came here as an immigrant. Grateful for the respite, for a new home. Not brandishing the flag of my birth country and yelling how evil America is. "Papers? We don't need no stinking papers!" Is that what you support?

Every day, in every way, it just gets worse and worse. I am dumbfounded. Gobsmacked. Appalled. Terrified. My son keeps begging me to turn off the news, stop reading the papers, but I admit, it's become an obsession. I HAVE to know what he's done now. What his Orcs have done. What latest savagery they've nightmarished up. I have the misfortune to be an empath. I can almost experience others' pain, walk a mile in their moccasins. I am confident that 99% of illegals are here to escape something worse, but Drumpf wants them, nearly all of them brown persons, to go back where they came from, or any other country not of their choice, or his too-precious "Alligator Alcatraz."

I am not stupid; I know there are, in fact, criminals, dangerous criminals among the detainees. That's a given. Throughout every society, there are dangerous criminals, murderers, serial killers, and other heinous evildoers that we need to deal with daily. Still, the idea that ALL of the most villainous are illegal immigrants is ludicrous, and how, for heaven's sake, does withholding nearly $7 billion from schools help the overblown immigrant "problem."

What's even more cruel and inhuman is putting immigrants in cages and building (in record time, I might add) holding facilities like "Alligator Alcatraz," making jokes about it, selling merchandize that heralds it.... and making us pay for this.... IMHO, the devils are not all in hell.

Aha....well, I'll be a monkey's uncle. I quote Shakespeare, and didn't even know it. Thanks for the tip. LOL.

Yes. The horrors being enacted have not yet directly impacted the personal lives of many, and so they go on with their mostly normal plans and daily routines.

For some of us, the (privileged and tenuous) sense of normalcy in our lives is necessary to remain sane, while we do what we can to oppose the authoritarian insurrection taking place in our country.

Thanks again, Liza. I appreciate your text as much as your drawings. They're each informative in different ways. Here's an idea for a cartoon. The notion is that: "For Trump34f, thinking and speaking must be like a medieval skeleton of a violinist trying to play a lobster with a snake." The inspiration was a medieval illustration, but not by Hieronymus Bosch. I saved it.

Yeah, it is hard to relax, or at least to feel justified in doing so. But, we need to keep sane for the long, big fight, especially November 2026.

Skydance is owned by David Ellison. Son of Larry. Second richest in the world (Forbes), Larry, that is. Much more wealthy than Trump. One wonders why David and Larry would let Trump humiliate them in this manner. It’s like paying protection money to some mid-level grifter.

Heather Cox Richardson today (2July 2025) released a shor (ca. 15min) YouTube video outlining the history of USA immigration from roughly 1850 onwards. It clarifies a great deal. She is an accomplished professional historian and public commentator.

Our political and economic systems have always favored the haves over the have-nots. We're a nation founded---and run---on exploitation. Our culture celebrates greed and excess, callousness and dominance. We side with the sharks and the alligators. We identify with the predators. It's "Who wants to be a billionaire?" not "Who wants to serve in a transformative non-profit organization that benefits millions?" But let's be clear: the alligators in the swamp that is spreading across America are coming for all of us. The horror is coming to a detention center near you. Hard to relax in these circumstances---but still a funny cartoon.

Thank you both, Crone and censor. I'm new to blogging and I always thought that 'troll' was a reference to monsters under bridges who harassed kids and goats. Now I realize that it refers to fishers who drag their bait waiting for someone to bite.
